At Southampton TOE use is routine for cardiac surgery. We have skilled echocardiographers with success in all the major perioperative TOE exams (BSE, EACTA, PTEExAM) and a number of currently accredited individuals.
Dr Paul Diprose is our echo lead and Dr James Montague coordinates the delivery of the echo teaching program which covers the entirety of the echo syllabus for both British and American exams.
We run a rolling consultant led program of education for both cardiac ICM and echo with a good track record of getting our fellows through the exams during their time with us. We are lucky enough to have the option of both GE and Philips TOE platforms and support training in 3D echo.
